Ideal Energy is a consortium of a highly talented certified engineers, building performance experts, high-risk security professionals, social change specialists, renewable energy pros, and architectural designers. Together we form an awesome team that’s ready to tackle the most demanding situations with a limitless range of services.

The Ideal Team has come together because of our shared passion for sustainability in the built environment. Our team members share the values of working together harmoniously to create a vibrant, healthy future for our planet and future generations. We strive to create greater leadership and responsibility in all of our actions, from engaging in our surrounding community, to how we make everyday decisions. Troy Van Beek

Sustainable Design & Renewable Energy Expert

Troy’s diverse background includes 9 years in the U.S Navy Seals as a Special Forces medic, and personal security details in hostile environments, such as the Middle East and Africa. After years of heart-pumping, high-profile work, Troy’s path of action lead him to explore alternatives to creating global security. Troy’s inquiries into the depths of our pressing socioeconomic and environmental challenges brought him to Maharishi University of Management, where he earned a degree in Sustainability.

Troy has followed his passion for creating self-sufficiency through community involvement. After a year of serving as a member of the Go Green Commission for Fairfield, Iowa, where he participated in creating a comprehensive sustainability plan for the City, Troy founded Ideal Energy, Inc to begin helping the city to fulfill the steps outline in the plan. Although Ideal Energy’s clientele has broaden to a national level, Troy remains dedicated to implementing renewable energy solutions in his hometown of Fairfield, Iowa.

Amy Greenfield

Eco Architectural Design

For the past ten years, Amy has worked on a diverse scale of design projects, ranging from children’s book illustration to sustainable home design. Amy is proficient in eco architectural design, the visual arts, branding, and spent several years studying the fine art of Vastu building design first hand with the renowned spiritual teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Amy is passionate about engaging the senses AND the environment in her designs, creating structures which work with nature, rather than against it. She is the owner of the design/build firm Greenfield Properties, which emphasizes natural and non-toxic building materials, high performance design, and renewable energy systems. Amy carries a BFA in Painting, and most recently completed Passive House training at Parson’s School of Constructed Design in New York City.

Mark Stimson

Renewable Energy Expert

Mark Stimson’s eclectic background spans multiple careers: boat-builder, sailing master, manufacturer and retailer, artist, artisan, writer, university professor, and sustainability consultant.
His current specialty is advanced modeling of renewable energy systems and financial structures. He and his wife Alexandra live on a 3-acre mini farm/orchard, in a super-insulated, passive-solar, geothermal house, with wind and solar systems on the slate for this year.

 

Michael Havelka

Biologist & Renewable Energy Expert

Michael is formally trained is as a Biologist, and has over 35 years experience in sustainable agriculture. After building and living in a straw bale house for fifteen years, powered by the sun and wind, Michael decided to co-found the Abundance EcoVillage project. His vision was to build a sustainable community that celebrates the abundance of nature, by making wise choices with technologies to reduce the inhabitant’s footprint on the planet, and simultaneously improve quality of life. Michael has worked for 24 years for a bio-friendly agriculture product company in research and production. When he’s not hanging around the Eco Village, Michael can be found tending his 12 acre organic farm and experiment station. Michael has played a key role in the development of the sustainable technologies of the EcoVillage.
